Microdermabrasion

Ohio cosmetic surgeon Dr. Faisal Quereshy recommends microdermabrasion to patients with the following cosmetic concerns:

  • Dull, ruddy skin
  • Mild sun damage
  • Rough, dry skin

Preparing for Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is non-invasive and very gentle, so no pre-treatment preparations are required. However, it is best to wait to pursue microdermabrasion treatment if skin has been recently waxed or shaved, exposed to exfoliating agents or recently sunburned to avoid unnecessary irritation.

Microdermabrasion Treatment

After your skin has been cleansed to remove makeup and environmental pollutants, we will perform your microdermabrasion treatment using a hand-held device that gently sprays your skin with crystals to loosen dead skin cells and then suctions them away.

Microdermabrasion treatment is a quick and easy procedure that typically takes 15-20 minutes. For maximum skin rejuvenation, microdermabrasion is usually performed every few months to keep skin looking fresh and may be combined with other skin resurfacing procedures, such as the Vitalize Peel or other chemical peels.

Microdermabrasion for Acne

Although microdermabrasion in Medina and Cleveland is not the first choice in acne treatment, it can certainly help reduce breakouts by keeping your skin exfoliated and free of dead skin cells that can clog pores and cause pimples or blackheads.

When combined with acne skin care products, such as the Obagi Clenziderm system or acne therapy from the SkinMedica product line, microdermabrasion can be an effective component of a multi-faceted acne treatment plan.

Microdermabrasion Results and Recovery in Medina & Cleveland, Ohio

Having professional microdermabrasion performed in a doctor’s office is much more effective than kits or products for at-home microdermabrasion. Immediately after treatment, you will notice your skin is brighter, smoother and more refined.

There is no downtime after microdermabrasion, and the procedure is so gentle you may return to work and normal activities right away. Protecting your skin from sun exposure is important not only after skin treatments such as microdermabrasion, but also as a daily precaution to reduce your risk of skin cancer and premature facial aging.
