SkinMedica Vitalize Peel
The Vitalize Peel by SkinMedica is safe to use on the face, neck and chest of both male and female patients of all skin types, even those with dark ethnic skin tones. It contains a combination of powerful, yet gentle beta hydroxy and alpha hydroxy acids, as well as resorcinol and retinoic acid to provide you with maximum anti-aging and skin rejuvenating benefits.
What to expect during the Vitalize Peel
Your hair will be tied back and your face cleansed before your treatment, and you will be instructed to close your eyes as we apply the chemical peel. Up to three layers of the Vitalize Peel formula may be used, depending on your needs and preferences.
You may feel mild tingling and itching sensations that intensifies as additional layers are applied. Be sure to let us know if you feel too uncomfortable during the treatment.
A final layer will be applied to the treated areas to neutralize the Vitalize Peel formula when your treatment is complete.
Vitalize Peel Results
It is imperative that you use sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) and moisturize your skin after your SkinMedica Vitalize Peel. Special post-peel cleansers designed for sensitive skin may be used after your treatment, however you should avoid washing your face for at least 1-2 hours (once the slight yellow tint has disappeared) after your Vitalize Peel.
Some mild to moderate flaking and peeling may occur in the treated areas for the next 1-3 days following Vitalize Peel treatment, and you may use moisturizers to control this. You will see Vitalize Peel results after just one treatment, however a series of 3-6 treatments spaced 2-4 weeks apart may be necessary to achieve optimal skin rejuvenation.
Your final Vitalize Peel results will be evident in your smoother, more even complexion and healthy skin glow.
What should I do to prepare for my Vitalize Peel?
Because the Vitalize Peel is a non-invasive chemical peel procedure, very little preparation is required prior to treatment.
Patients should not have a Vitalize Peel if their skin has been recently waxed or shaved, sunburned or exposed to exfoliating agents, and all prescription and over-the-counter acne medications should be discontinued well in advance.
