Facial Implants

Facial implants are designed to increase the symmetry and projection of the cheeks, chin, or jaw to permanently augment and improve the balance of your facial features. Facial implant surgery offers patients fuller cheeks, a chiseled and well-defined jawline, and a stronger, more prominent chin. Working with Dr. Quereshy, you will be able to create your own customized facial implant procedure to achieve your desired facial appearance.

Dr. Faisal Quereshy recommends facial implants to patients with the following cosmetic concerns:

  • Asymmetric facial contours
  • Weak jawline
  • Weak chin
  • Gaunt, sunken cheeks
  • Disproportionate facial features
  • Poorly-defined features

Preparing for Facial Implants

Dr. Quereshy will help you prepare for facial implant surgery and provide you with aftercare instructions and necessary prescriptions well in advance so you feel relaxed and ready for your procedure. If you smoke or use other tobacco products, you will be required to quit using them at least six weeks before facial implant surgery.

Two weeks before and after surgery, you will be directed to discontinue taking medications and supplements that can thin the blood, such as ibuprofen, aspirin, and vitamin E.

Abstain from alcohol for one week prior to chin surgery, and do not eat or drink anything after midnight the night before surgery. Let Dr. Quereshy know if you notice any signs of infection or illness prior to facial implant surgery, as it is imperative you be in good health before undergoing cosmetic surgery of any kind.

Dress comfortably the day of surgery, and do not wear makeup, nail polish, jewelry, other metal items or contact lenses. Bring glasses to help you read the necessary paperwork.

Chin Implant

Chin augmentation with a chin implant can increase the projection of a weak chin, making it more prominent, enhancing lower face contours and improving the balance and harmony of your facial features.

General or sedation anesthesia is used during chin implant surgery, and a synthetic chin implant is placed above your chin bone through small incisions inside your mouth or under your chin. If necessary, permanent sutures or screws may be used to secure your chin implant.

Chin implant surgery is often performed in conjunction with chin liposuction and other facial contouring procedures, however when it chin surgery alone is performed, the procedure typically takes less than an hour.

Cheek Implants

Cheek augmentation with cheek implants provides volume restoration to the cheeks and mid-face, improves facial symmetry and balance and creates better cheek definition.

While you are under general or sedation anesthesia, Dr. Quereshy places cheek implants through small incisions inside your mouth or lower eyelids. Like other facial implants, cheek implants are made of synthetic materials designed to provide permanent cheek enhancement.

Cheek implants may be held in place by permanent sutures or screws, however, this is not always necessary. The procedure typically takes under an hour to perform.

Fillers like Sculptra and Radiesse are considered injectable cheek implants and are also frequently used for semi-permanent non-surgical cheek augmentation.

Jaw Implants

Jaw augmentation with jaw implants can permanently improve the definition and contours of your jawline and lower face.

During jaw implant surgery, you will be placed under general or sedation anesthesia. Jaw implants made of synthetic materials, such as silicone or polyethylene, are placed over the jaw bone along the lower third of your face through small incisions inside your mouth. The procedure typically takes about 1-2 hours to perform.

Facial Implant Surgery Recovery and Results

Within about one week of facial implant surgery, surgical tape, dressings and any non-dissolvable stitches used to close your incisions will be removed. Prior to this, keep dressings clean and dry, lubricate removable stitches with ointment and follow other post-operative instructions regarding wound care and showering.

Take pain medications and antibiotics as directed, keep your head elevated, and use cold compresses to minimize swelling in the days following facial implant surgery. Avoid strenuous activity, including lifting and bending, for at least 4-6 weeks.

Most patients can return to work within 1-2 weeks of facial implant surgery, as swelling, bruising and discomfort will have mostly subsided by this time. Dr. Quereshy will let you know when normal activity and strenuous activity may be resumed depending on your healing progress.

You will begin to enjoy your final results and improved facial contours within 3-6 months.
