Botox is the most popular cosmetic treatment in the world, and this is certainly true in the Cleveland and Akron areas as well.
Although patients can choose to have Botox in dozens of medical offices, spas, and doctors’ offices in the Cleveland area, it’s important to choose a Botox provider with the correct experience and training in facial anatomy to get the best outcome possible.
Cleveland facial surgeon Dr. Faisal Quereshy recommends Botox Cosmetic injections to patients with the following concerns:
Horizontal forehead creases
Frown lines or 11’s
Mild eyebrow drooping
Excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis)
Before and After Treatment with Botox Cosmetic
Are Botox injections painful?
Botox injections are usually only mildly uncomfortable for patients, but if requested, Dr. Quereshy will numb the treatment area with ice or topical anesthetic. Treatment with Botox Cosmetic is usually very quick and takes less than 30 minutes, however it may take slightly longer if you decide to combine Botox with other injectable treatments such as Juvederm, Restylane or Radiesse.
How many units of Botox will I need?
Botox is measured in units, and the typical treatment involves anywhere from 20-100 units depending on the amount of correction you desire. Treatment for hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating, usually requires more units of Botox than wrinkle treatment or Botox brow lift.
Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin?
Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin are injectable wrinkle relaxers derived from botulinum type A, a neurotoxin designed to block nerve impulses that stimulate muscle movement. It is widely accepted that in skilled hands, both products provide comparable wrinkle correction.
Dr. Quereshy will recommend Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin to you based on the type of treatment you desire, your unique anatomy and whether you’ve previously experienced better correction with one wrinkle treatment over the other.
Redness, bruising and swelling at injection sites can occur following Botox treatment, however these Botox side effects should resolve within a few days to two weeks. Apply ice to reduce swelling, and keep injection sites clean until they are healed to avoid redness and irritation. Avoid rubbing or touching the treated area for at least 48 hours after treatment to avoid product migration. Some patients may find they are resistant to the effects of Botox, however this is rare. Botox injections can cause unwanted muscle relaxation and facial drooping or asymmetry. These side effects are typically the result of poor injection technique.
After Botox Treatment at Visage Surgical Institute
Normal activity can be resumed immediately after Botox injections. Strenuous activity and bending at the waist should be avoided for 24 hours after treatment to avoid migration of the product to other areas. You will see your final results about one week after your Botox injections, by which time most bruising, swelling and other temporary side effects should be resolved. Results last about 3-4 months. Repeat treatments will be needed to continue providing dynamic wrinkle reduction of forehead lines, eyebrow furrows and crow’s feet.
