Lip Augmentation

Lip Augmentation in Medina & Cleveland, OH Area

Our lips thin as we age. Lip shape changes or diminishes, vertical lines often appear, and lips can look colorless. Lip augmentation can significantly make a face look younger, softer and more appealing. In Medina and Cleveland area, patients trust and go to Dr. Quereshy for lip augmentation consultation and treatment

Lip augmentation is a procedure which uses synthetic or biological products to enhance the lips in many ways. At Visage Surgical Institute, we commonly use Restylane, Juvederm Ultra, Juvederm Ultra Plus, or your own fat to enhance the lip area.

Ohio cosmetic surgeon Dr. Faisal Quereshy recommends lip augmentation with injectable fillers or fat injections to patients with the following cosmetic concerns:

  • Small or thin lips
  • Asymmetric lips
  • Disproportionate lips

Lip Enhancement Injections

After lightly marking the injection sites, Dr. Quereshy will carefully place lip injections of a filler product such as Juvederm or Restylane in the border and other areas of your upper lip, lower lip or both.

Your own fat may also be used to plump your lips with the fat grafting procedure. Fat injections typically provide longer-lasting results than injectable fillers used for lip enhancement, however the procedure is more extensive because it involves liposuction and may require multiple treatments.

Lip injections are usually only mildly uncomfortable for patients, but if needed, Dr. Quereshy can numb the treatment area with ice, topical anesthetic or local anesthetic, such as a dental block.

How long does the lip augmentation procedure take?

Lip injections usually take 30 minutes or less to perform, however it may take slightly longer if you decide to use leftover injectable filler product to fill in wrinkles or augment other soft tissue areas besides the lips. Fat grafting for lip enhancement typically takes about 2 hours.

Lip Augmentation Recovery and Results

Lip augmentation with Juvederm or Restylane typically does not require any downtime or recovery period, however lips will usually be swollen for a few days. Mild bruising and redness may also occur, but this should resolve within 1-2 weeks.

Fat injections usually result in more swelling and potentially bruising at the injection site and donor site than lip augmentation with Juvederm or Restylane. Most patients will look presentable within 1-2 weeks of the fat grafting procedure, and repeat injections may be needed after six weeks. Fat grafting may provide permanent lip augmentation results, however much depends on whether your body re-absorbs the injected fat.

How should I prepare for lip augmentation?

Dr. Quereshy will have you start preparing for your lip augmentation procedure and provide you with aftercare instructions well in advance to ensure you feel comfortable and ready for your procedure. If you smoke or use other tobacco products, you may be required to quit using them before undergoing lip augmentation.

When will I see the results of my lip augmentation?

Once all temporary side effects have subsided, your final lip enhancement results will be visible and should last 3-6 months.

Our Latest Patient Testimonial

I had a cracked tooth that required extraction. the implant process, while involved and more expensive, was the better investment and long-term choice. The implant procedure was similar to getting a cavity filled yet took less than fifteen minutes once the anesthetic kicked in. very happy with the treatment and results.
